I'm looking for a new publisher. JMS Books has been good for me, because the MC in my two novels was gay and they specialise in books for the gay market. But they're not really an obvious home for general historicals. The book I'm currently trying to place has a heterosexual hero and is a pretty straightforward historical adventure in the Cornwell/McDonald Fraser tradition (but with rather less warfare).
I'd love to get a deal with a mainstream publisher, but I've looked at the time and emotional misery that's expended dealing with agents and I think I've about invested all I'm prepared to in that route. So I'm looking for an indie that specialises in historicals and who can get my future books exposed to a wider market than JMS.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
