Old Fart's and Pouffes Bar, Grill, and Hogewey Infirmary

Are you 50+ years old? Do you remember when gas was 20 cents a gallon? Do you remember when a penny postcard didn't cost 26 cents? Do you remember when there was actually a key representing the symbol for "cents" on the keyboard? Then this is the thread for you.

If you're younger than 50, just what the hell do you think you're doing here? You never call; you never write. You're out of the will. Get off my lawn. Go away. Why, when I was your age....

    But that's for another thread.

So pull up your rocking chair, plug in your hearing aide, jump start your pacemaker and tell us about all your operations.
If you can't remember your operations, tell us what you remember from your youth. Do you miss "the old days" or are things better today?

And hurry up about it. You don't have all that much time left, you know.

If you left your Selectric home, that sounds like a personal problem. But once you find yourself a good typewriter, just remember to leave two spaces after the periods (full stop, for our British friends).

Most of our wimminz here don't worry about full stops anymore.

    Okay, who stole the bedpans?

I'll bet the crew is using them to bail, bail, bail.

***This was too good to leave in the old place

Haggis decided to honor his heritage and learn to play the pipes. It proved a mighty task so he decided rather to learn to play one song, and play it well. His choice was Amazing Grace.
Practice he did and success was his. One day a friend who had lost a brother in western Michigan (horrible to place to be lost by the way) and asked Haggis if he would play his pipes at the funeral.
This was the first request he'd gotten so he eagerly accepted the chance.
He got into his car and headed for the funeral, only to become lost himself. He drove around for hours, til the time for the burial had just passed. As he was about to give up and go home he saw two men shoveling dirt into the hole.
He braked his car jumped out, and asked that they hold off finishing their work until he had done his. They agreed. He played the most beautiful rendition of Amazing grace ever blown through a pipe. Tears were rolling down the cheeks of the two workers.
He thanked them, and they thanked him.
As he drove off one of the workers said to the other " That was absolutely the best I've ever heard that played" His friend replied " And to think, it was for a septic tank."

Done and done. I'll keep the old one stuck for a while... maybe forever. We might decide we want to go home some day for a visit and I wouldn't want to get lost trying to find my way back.

Ummm ... I borrowed them for another thread. (Favorite Sport and Greatest Fear)

Favorite sport - Playing Frisbee with bedpans
Greatest fear - Getting hit by bedpan while playing Frisbee
