Good afternoon, fellow writers.

My name is Jack, I am 21, currently studying a degree Music Production & Technology and writing my first fiction novel.

I am a huge fan of Dystopian fiction, and have been writing short stories on and off for roughly 5 years. I've recently got back into reading again, and started writing a novel I've been planning for the best part of 3 years.

I have hopes of getting my work published one day, and decided to join this community to help improve my works, as well as the works of others.

I look forward to getting to know you :)

-Jack

Hi Jack! Music Production and Technology is a great thing to study! And Dystopian is one of my favorite genres, what are some of your favorite Dystopian books?

I'm currently reading the classics, such as Brave New World and The Time Machine. My better half bought me the Hunger Games books for christmas and I went out and bought loads of oldies and newies :) although I was utterly mindf--ked when I read 1984!

I do love Animal Farm though, and I think it sits at the top of my favourites, next to The Hunger Games :p

And I am in no rush to reach my 50 posts, my work isn't really ready to submit yet :/ and I need to get over my fear of posting work to strangers :p And to think I want to be a published author!

The Hunger Games is one of my favorite series. You should try The Chemical Garden series, by Lauren DeStefano, the first book is called Wither. Under the Never Sky, by Veronica Rossi (It's a series too. The second book was just released in the beginning of January.), Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi is great.

I have a lot more, so if you ever need any suggestions, let me know. Always happy to give out book suggestions.

And remember to be careful about posting your work! Don't post the whole thing, and if you're looking for someone to look at your work get them to email you and share it with them. :)

And don't worry, I want to be a published author as well and I'm always worried about new people reading my work. I'm even worried sometimes when I send it to my best friend who is also a critique partner and we've been sharing stuff for years!

Everyone goes through this. :)

I will more than likely ask for emails, and even then I'd be a bit cautious. Spending alot of time on this novel, and I'd hate for something to happen!

I will look into your list :) I prefer reading trilogies compared to single books. My novel is intended to be a single book, but is likely to become a trilogy. Too many ideas!

Yeah, better to be safe than sorry. The way I'll probably do it is talk to a person for a bit and if I feel like I can trust to show them my stuff, then I'll send it. I had a book I was working on when I was in high school stolen from a website I was on called Booksie.com. Someone told me that it was on another writing website and a blog, I was devastated!

So I'm really cautious now, even if that was more for fun than anything.

I prefer trilogies and series over single books as well. All of the ones I named are trilogies. Under The Never Sky and Shatter Me are both newer. So they are only on their second books. :)
