Yep! It's from a Miyazaki film called Kiki's Delivery Service. I highly recommend it!

Yep, I was lurking. Apologies for sending a private message to the thread. Although my son's naked appearance on the balcony was pretty amusing.

And obviously, I can't work on more than one thing at once! : )

Speaking of handbags, my kiddos are intensely curious what the Queen carries in her handbag. They've worked up this whole scenario where it's lead-lined so she can whack somebody if necessary, and that there's probably also a taser in there. I told them, probably not.

    Hi, lovely Purgies!

I just got off the phone with my beloved JennW. Talking to her always adds sunshine to my day.

I got another form rejection yesterday and sent out a revenge query. They will love me, oh, yes, they will.

It's definitely time for a cupcake. Who wants one? *passes them out*

Amarie, I love it. That would be another one for those "what your mom things you do" memes. e.g.

What Prince Harry wishes his gram would carry in her handbag.
What the Queen wishes she could carry.
What MI5 wishes she would carry.
    What she really carries.

I could have fun populating that list, but I need to get work done. Can you guys light a fire under my butt?

ETA: I'll take the cupcake, Shveta. RQ away.

Sunna, that's something I would totally do. It's not your fault her phone carrier sucks. : )

xiao, Ewwwww. They picked the wrong place to hatch.

It feels like -6 here. It's crazy. I'm not used to it. So, I am ashamed to admit, I drove the 0.7 miles to the gym rather than walking or taking the bus (which I usually do). My breath froze to the rear window of my car. But I got my favorite spot on the weight floor. Minor victories, really.

someone please enlighten me. I don't know what a meme is, though I have glimmers from Haupe's post, but I see the word around and have never understood it.

  17. #842
Meme is a shortening of the word memetics, so an idea/thought that spreads through a group of people.

Things like i can haz cheezburger cats and the like are memes, images/similar thoughts multiplying and circulating through the internet!

That's amazing, I love that it's filmed juuust slow enough for you to really see that it's real paper. But the best thing is how the singer is apparently backed up by Alvin and The Chipmunks. It's great they have work.

Love that movie, and Jiji is definitely the best part. "You'd think they'd never seen a girl and her cat on a broom before."

I'm back because I already did one thing that eluded completion the entire morning.

*snort* White part might ruin a poplar movie for you, if you haven't seen it yet. Read with caution: Have you seen Les Mis? While I enjoyed it...yeah.

Amarie, sorry, I didn't mean to be oblique. Here's a blog with a number of posts which illustrate that meme. Your kids might like to play along.

While I have no idea what's in the Queen's purse--a few Kleenex, a linty half-roll of Livesavers, that bead that fell off something, pix of the grandkids--I read that how she carries it serves as a signal to her staff. There's a way for "I'm not feeling well" and another for "Get me out of here!"

I'd work out something like that for my purse, but nobody'd pay any attention.

    I'm going with "corgi puppy."

Hey ya. Repped as I went.

Promotion...I'm fortunate to be a part of this giveaway. I've already gotten over 150 new FB likes. In a day.

Otherwise, here in SF, trying to settle in. I have like one thing a day on my list of "real world" stuff to try and accomplish -- by which I mean, "non-writing stuff." Because I have so much of that latter category, yeah, one of the real world a day is plenty. Plus, it's just trying to figure out how to operate in a new city, yanno? Where things are. How things work. I've been up here a ton but it's different when it's just a few days or a week at a time.

Writing...I have page proofs. Acknowledgments. Promo stuff. Those are due next week. I have a blog post to write tonight. A panel to moderate in a little over a week. Other stuff I'm forgetting.

Oh, yeah, a book to write.
