My younger brother has been writing a lot of poems recently but his English classes didn't teach much about the different kinds of rhyme and alliteration, or the different meters and forms. Can anyone recommend a book which explains and gives example poems for each of these things?

Where opinions have a distinct aroma.
The Ode Less Travelled by Stephen Fry covers pretty much everything from metre to rhyme and verse forms.

Clement Wood's Complete Dictionary of Rhyme covers reverse and caged rhyme as well as standard, and has a sub-section called The Poet's Handbook which is very detailed in explaining accentuation, metrical formats and freedoms in breaking convention.

or even this site here.

There's also this thread.
