Newsflash: it's not a phenomenon that is limited to any color or race of woman. Our society goes through standards of what is most attractive (for women and men, but with women, just like with baby clothes, there are so many more details). In my area when I was a teen, "tan" was most attractive. God forbid you were a fair-skinned redhead. And don't even get me started on body measurements. Enter: plastic surgery, wrinkle creams, crash diets, dark spot correctors, stretch mark cures, and wash-that-gray-right outta-your-hair crap. All to attain the "ideal" of beauty.

It's sad and disgusting. I spent half my life trying to be "perfect" (with eating disorders, etc.) when I already was, just the way God made me. We are all perfect, exactly as we are. RIGHT NOW.

Take that, Cosmo. :D
