Nights At The Circus by Angela Carter has been chosen as the best ever winner of the James Tait Black Prize.

I first read NATC when I was seventeen, and I hated it. Then I read it again, and loved it. Every time I've read it since, I've liked it even more.

I'm reading this at the moment and the character of Fevvers has really grabbed me.Angela Carter's character descriptions are amazing.

I recall that the word "steatopygous" is used in the first chapter; it's a high-falutin' word for having a fat arse. Which is typical of her sense of humour. :)

I have a professor who keeps telling me to read this book, but my library doesn't seem to own it. It's very frustrating.
