Hi everyone! Hope you are having a great day.

I'm from a new company called ReadWave and we specialise in providing a platform for short-story writers to get their tales out on to the internet and hopefully to the attention of agencies and publishing houses.

I'm here to ask a huge favour in lending your support to one of our favourite ReadWave authors Michael Hines. He's a really nice guy and really talented at writing. If you could possibly take a minute of your time to 'like' his story Cooper and the Thieves - its at http://readwave[dot]com/projects/project_684cb655eed7a14ac249?utm_source=forums&utm_medium=forums&utm_campaign=Hines%2Bcampaign - it would be really appreciated. We're trying to get him 500 facebook likes by the end of the month.

Thanks so much for your support and please come over and visit us at readwave.com - we'd love for you to come over and upload your stories too!

Rob

Not where you last saw me.
Hi, Rob

Announcements, Events and Self-Promotion is the forum for active community members to post press releases, events, and marketing announcements publicizing their own work.

I'm moving this to nonpaying markets. Please be advised the mods there may make a different decision.

Thanks

Ari

Hi and welcome to AW. You seem to have some misinformation about the short story market.

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a great day.

Publishing houses tend to limit short story collections to those written by previously established authors. Agents, as a general rule, do not represent short story writers. First of all, there isn't a lot of money in short stories and second of all, the professional markets do not require agented submissions. The proper markets for short story writers are magazines (both print and online), and they can easily be researched on Duotrope or by picking up a copy of the Short Story Writers Market.

When these markets do purchase a short story, they generally purchase first rights, not reprints. In other words, putting a story in its entirety on a publicly-accessible webpage actually hurts a writer's chances of selling it to a professional market.

As of 1/16, the home page reads (less some reformatting):
It's the end of this chapter and the start of a new one!
We're unable to maintain ReadWave in it's current form, and so if you're interested in purchasing ReadWave from us to continue supporting the site and the community, please email ...
