Bummer

Thank you very much for providing us with the chance to read your novel. We are sorry to say that at this time we don’t feel it is right for the Harper Voyager list.
Due to the volume of submissions we were fortunate enough to receive, we are unable to provide personal feedback, however, please be assured that your work received thorough and fair consideration.
Thank you again for thinking of us, and we wish you the best of luck with your writing career.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted! Good luck to everyone still in the running and a big thank you to Harper Voyager for giving authors such an amazing opportunity.

We are now up to 32 rejections and 4 still in review...

If I missed anyone, or got any of the information wrong, please notify me. To those who have reported their submissions, please report back on any contact you recieve from Harper Voyager. If not, then on March 1st, I will mark outcome as no response.

For new members who have found the AW Watercooler because of this open submission by HV, welcome and enjoy your stay. Please check and join in the other forums, including the newbee starter threads. I think you all will find a wealth of information on writing and publishing, and just maybe make a few friends...

I would also like to point out that HV reported they got over 4500 submissions. The AW members only makes a little under 2% of the total submissions, so if any of us do get accepted, big round of applause because they are only looking for 10-12 for the next year. Which I assume will mean 2014.

I think #15 and #74 along with Ginger (not on the list) reported in today.

So that makes 32 rejections :(

Oh, I submitted. I also entered the ABNA. You gotta cover your bases, man! You just withdraw if anything comes through.

Very interesting that you mention you submitted to the competition and the very next morning you get a rejection...

Interesting. Very interesting.

Not sure #15 is reporting that she got rejected or is responding to someone elses rejections. Need clarification...

As to Ginger, no she is not on the list and I have no idea what she submitted or when, so unless she reports this information I am not going to put on the list. No offense to Ginger...

I think you may be seeing conspiracies where none exist, Nick. I doubt anyone from HV is monitoring writer's threads across the country. Although, I'll take that for a reason other than I suck!

Ok, I've lurked around in your peripheral vision for long enough. I am coming out or in (if you'll have me).. :)
One Urban Fantasy submitted to HV on 04/10 and have not had a response of any kind. There's a weird sense of relief and anxiety when I check my inbox or junk mail and find nothing from HV.

Thothguard51... I did post what and when I submitted to HV.. :-(

Eileen said "bummer" and posted a rejection letter verbatim and then said good luck to everyone else. It doesn't sound fuzzy to me. If that is truly the case, then I'm sorry, Eileen, and that goes for everyone else who got the R today. Whoever pointed out that it's going to get harder and harder is absolutely correct. My stomach's been in knots all day long.

TOR UK

Also just realized it said 95k-150k and not 90k... Mine is 92k and change. Ughhh. Hoping they are not as nit-picky as me!

The MS I'm thinking to send is currently 93,770 words. I figure I'll give it another read through and see if it's not missing a little something. I hadn't sent this one to HV because it had been under consideration by someone else at the time. TOR UK's promised three month turnaround time is just too good to pass up. And yet, I sure don't want an auto rejection for being under word count.

My sympathies to those who were rejected today (and previously). Keep trying.

I've started feeling sick every time I see I have a new e-mail, just in case it's a rejection. Oh brain, you are a jerk. I'd also like to sub to Tor UK but the novels I have that are within their word count all need major editing before I dare show their faces to the sunlight. Which I should probably do.

On second read, your more than likely right. I updated. Thanks for being a second pair of eyes...

Hey Thothguard, since Feb 1 is in less than a day, and we're still getting a trickle of rejections and haven't yet had the update from HV that they said they'd give...

Maybe change the date you mark stuff no response to March 1?

I'm gonna jump to your Tor thread! Though there won't be much to report for twelve more weeks. Ugh.

I am thinking based on the results we have, they seem to be about 30-35% of the way through the subs. In their update on the Dec 20th they said they had their eye on a few already, which means they were reading the subs as they came in, my guess is those are the people who are still in review.

Not sure if they are changing things to a Wed to Fri notification system, but no one has said anything as of today...so maybe we can rest until Monday?

If you refer back to Omni's pie chart on 27 Jan. showing the breakdown of "rejections" to "no news yet" to "haven't posted since the rejections began" you find the latter category to consist of 38% of this group. So far the other two categories have been running neck and neck. I think it's fair to extrapolate the data in two possible ways:
1). Approximately half of the 38% (19%) has heard and did not bother to report. That makes the total rejections in our group about 51%.

OR

2). Nearly ALL of those 38% have not bothered to report in because they got rejected way back in the first two weeks and had no personal investment in updating this group beyond that time. Which makes the total rejections closer to 70%.

In short, I think they are somewhere between 50-70% complete, likely well over 60%. If you view this thing strictly through the lens of probability.
