I also fell down a rabbit hole when writing, but it wasn't the research hole, it was the essay hole. So, I got a little heated following a breathtakingly wrong-headed comment from our president about the Civil War and why it had to happen. I don't generally get political, and this isn't a political thing; it's a historical thing. I just get so upset because this issue--which simply will not die--keeps rearing its ugly head. There's been so much progress, but it simply isn't reaching enough people.
