My little Stevie's gone?

.oh wow.

We talked. We talked a lot, esp about music and rock n' roll and playing in bands and how the life can catch you up if you let it. He sent me this link to a semi-obscure song that I've carried with me ever since. (The Heads: The Damage I have done) It might not be entirely appropriate at this very moment, but it's what we shared...

G'night Steve

miss ya.

Wasn't sure if I recognized the User ID but I sure recall that user title, definitely a horror writer. Looking more about him, it may be just as well I didn't know him better, we might have got into a few cantankerous conversations. Regardless, his passing is surely a huge loss for his wife and children. My condolences.

He always bounced back.

He'd be gone for awhile and just when you'd start to worry, he'd bounce back.

So proud he was of his family, his sobriety.

So missed.

Goodnight, my friend.

I hope to see you when it's my turn to see the other side.

My prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends. I posted with him a few times and though he was going through it,he always kept a sense of humor and never seemed to be down.

Now he is at rest and I will say a prayer for him.RIP.

Oh my goodness.

For a long time Steve and I exchanged emails, and then it fell off after he had a long bout of illness. I never came across someone who handled the bumpiness of chronic illness with such a cheerful outlook. He was also so frank and honest about his past and celebrated his present. I wondered how on earth he did it...

My deepest condolences to his wife and family.

We've lost a good 'un people....

Throughout everything, Steve always said he would be back. In all of the times he posted about his health, and his troubles, he always maintained his sense of humor, and his compassion and... Damn, these things never get easier to write.

I'm gonna miss him. :(

Oh, man. He was a nice guy. Losing someone never makes any damn sense.

Horror Hound, have a safe journey. I'm really, really sad to lose you.

Hope and caring to his family.

Condolences to Steve's family, and major hugs to all the AW members who here who did know him. I didn't know him that well, but it still stings to see those I do know here lose a good friend.

Oh geez, I didn't even know he was sick. I've run into him a few times here and liked him.

RIP, fellow AWer.

ETA: I just read through some of his posts. This bit was from his birthday thread back in April 2011 when he turned 35: "So I look on each birthday with extra Care and enjoyment now. Next milestone--make it to 40 and NOT be in a power chair or wheelchair;) "

Instead, now he has wings.

Oh, crap. This is the first I'd heard of Steve's passing.

Steve, you will be missed. As a fellow Hound your contributions remain unchallenged. As a fellow human being your courage and resilience in the face of adversity remain a testament to your humanity. Your battle here is over and I know you're looking down on us here at AW and continuing to inspire us. You now walk hand in hand with other dear friends from AW and I sure hope God is enjoying the lot of you up there. I know you are enjoying editing God's grammar. Steve, drink deep of Heaven's (non-alcoholic) ambrosia and enjoy the rest and peace you most certainly earned. You will not be forgotten, but you will be missed. Remember, once a Hound, always a Hound and I'll raise a glass in your honor today.
