We would like to apologize for the misspellings and the lack of information that occured on our website this past summer. As we were in the beginning stages of creating a company, there were a few kinks. Now that we are up and running, we are sure that there will be a few more. We have already sold many works and we have many artists and writers working with us. Please feel free to revisit our website at bodinpubinc.com or our store at shop.bodinpubinc.com. Thank you.

Just so we know who we are addressing, are you Barbara Bodin or one of her daughters? You've misspelled "occured" in your post, so I want to be sure I'm not going to be railing on somebody who shouldn't be railed on.

The problems already mentioned in this thread are still there, along with some extras. As far as I can tell, you've done nothing to address any of the problems with it. Do you intend to?

Also, what experience have you got which qualifies you to run a publishing house?

We appreciate all of the great ideas that everyone is contributing. We did not know that one of our writers had broken his contract, that it would help to sell more if we added something on the home page about the store. About the "gay porn" thing, we were not aware of this, although we are not sure how many people who are reading our magazine know about this. Check out the magazine, and other works at shop.bodinpubinc.com TODAY :) And thank you everyone!!

Anybody else note that one missing step? An important, crucial step? A step that every book needs to go through before publication?

"3. ...
"4. Profit!"

Things go very predictably here -- mentioning the objections raised in the thread only to brush them breezily aside without actually addressing them -- until the end, where they unexpectedly digress into sales pitch.

It's like, the gymnast stuck the landing beautifully--on the roof of a passing clown car. Bizzaro-judge gives it an 8.5, but everyone else radios Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, right?

And thank you everyone!!

This is probably going to be a waste of time, but what the hey.

We appreciate all of the great ideas that everyone is contributing.

No. We are NOT contributing ideas. a)We are not your bitch. b)a publishing house is not run by a committee of procrastinating writers on the interwebs c)they are not ideas, they are big MASSIVE problems with the way you are attempting to run your business. They are indicators that it would be deeply inadvisable to sign a contract with you. When you run those first rights into the ground, they are gone.

We did not know that one of our writers had broken his contract,

It worries me that you didn't know this.

that it would help to sell more if we added something on the home page about the store.

Seriously. Really and truly and seriously? You don't think that linking to a shop is the ideal way to sell things? You don't know that selling books is a publisher's job?

About the "gay porn" thing, we were not aware of this, although we are not sure how many people who are reading our magazine know about this.

Before you name anything, type it into Google. I just typed Strokes Magazine in - what I get are various medical journals, art journals and articles in music magazines about the Strokes, a popular UK indie band. Unless I think to add Bodin to my search term, I am not going to find your product. This is a problem for you.

No. Do not come in here and spam us.

Come in and discuss with us, learn a bit about the industry. Tell us about your qualifications. Learn what you are doing wrong.

Even if you don't want to have a conversation, do yourselves a favour:

1)Proofread everything before it goes onto the website. Get rid of the typos and grammatical errors and your website will look much better.
2)Get those artworks off the front page of the website. They are terrible. Really. They look like they were painted by 16 year-olds.
3)Get the books available on Amazon.
4)Put some writing samples in the shop along with the pertinent information like page numbers.
5)Use proper images on your covers, not ones from FreeLargePhotos.com. Do not include the copyright information of said photo in big red letters on the cover.

Updating link to home page: http://bodinpubinc.com/

Although they say:
A new sections has been created- Children's Books and Religion. We are looking specifically for writers for this new section.

... nothing previously noted been fixed, and of the books in their store, the couple available on Amazon were pubbed Oct '12. Also, Twitter feed stopped Nov '12, and FB Feb '13.
