I read Doug Hill's Last Legionary quartet when I was a kid, and for some reason they popped back into my head a couple of weeks ago. On a whim I picked up a copy of them on Amazon and am now knee-deep in blissful nostalgia. It's so simple compared to my recent reading and writing, and I'm totally loving it.

Anyone else like these books, or had a similar nostalgia kick?

That takes me back a bit. Remember them well and loved them. Can't remember how I old I was when I first read them, probably only 10 or so but reread them several times over the years. As you say quite simplistic compared to modern fare but I was gripped by them.

Oh and actually I think my favourite of the books wasn't part of the quartet but 'Young Legionary' 4 stories set when he was becoming a legionary.
