Hello everyone. Thought I'd drop by here after spending some time reading the newbie guides and FAQ threads. It's a lot to remember, but I'll get the hang of it. I've been visiting this site off and on for awhile for all the great info, but thought it would be a good idea to finally join. It will be nice to actually interact with people now instead of just lurking.

As for my writing, I've got a 91k manuscript that is on what must be its dozenth revision by now. The first draft was actually 79k, but grew from there despite some scene deletions. A couple of great beta partners have helped me improve it a lot. There is still some tweaking to do, but I have high (though realistic) hopes.

Mostly I'm here to interact with other writers. I've found you can learn a lot by what others do wrong, as well as right. Not to mention all the topics around here I've never even considered that can be beneficial to anyone trying to improve their craft. I'll look forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome aboard and congrats on the book - I've just sent my 'baby' off for the very first time today after umpteen revisions!

Welcome and you've so many good ideas there. There is so much to get from other writers and, as you said, you read the answers to questions you never would have thought to ask yourself. So you're going to have a ball here. Best wishes.

Welcome! I'm in the same boat as you -- revising a first draft. And I've been amazed at what a treasure trove this site is.

Welcome Susan. Same boat, here. Funny how all that deleting makes your book longer. I pared away for a month and it's now 3,000 words more than when I started.
