I'm on the couch, next to the open window. A not-cold breeze is blowing gently in. I'm crocheting flower earrings while I watch a delightfully overwrought 70s horror movie starring Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, and Barbara Steele.

I haven't been this relaxed in months.

Another day in paradise here. Blue skies and scorching sunshine with a pleasant breeze. Took the puppy out to chase some baby rabbits (she never catches them :tongue) and then came back to do some work.

You know you live on a Caribbean island when you hear a truck drive by and think 'PLEASE BE A THUNDERSTORM I'M SO BORED OF THIS STUPID PERFECT TROPICAL PARADISE DAY AFTER DAY".

I felt the same way growing up in southern Arizona. Please, let that cloud bring a friend, and another, until we have grey skies, maybe even a little rain.

Maryn, both of whose kidlets are within feet of her, for a change

Yep, like Maryn, I lived in southern Arizona, I longed for a storm, any rain.

Now that we're back in England, my wishes have come true because we get rain nearly every day. :D

Rainy season would fulfill me, except rainy season is too rainy. Especially since we don't have drains so the streets flood up four feet.

...also because rainy season means hurricanes.

I would get sick of every day being hot and bright sun. That's why I'm a night owl by nature (despite having to survive in the 9 to 5 world) and probably why I never moved to Cali (or Texas, or anywhere deep south).

Happy Mom's Day to all the ladies! Even if you haven't got a kid I still consider you moms, because let's face it we all end up giving advice and taking care of SOMEONE. :)

Lily, beautiful necklace! Pattern or not, I am totally impressed.

Blond and JL are ADORABLE. I know you said you wouldn't, but please get married and make hideously adorable babies. :D

Laid back mother's day here. Sharkbite had THREE opportunities this week to produce a gift for me and declined every one. (They tried twice at daycare and once during Sunday school, but he's my little nonconformist!) He Who Will Not Be Instructed gets a pass this year, what with being only two. ;) My hubby, on the other hand, got me this adorable little plush Jawa that says Jawa nonsense when you squeeze him. His eyes light up too. Oh, and Sharkbite's freaked out by him, so it hasn't gotten stolen yet. :D

On a creative roll. I made rippled flower earrings with freshwater pearl centers. The glue on the thread is drying now. I'll put 'em on tomorrow and post a pic. :)

Now fulminating revisions to the horror short while waiting for Sherlock at 9.

Happy Mother's Day!

The flower clusters look like garlic mustard, which is considered a noxious weed. The foliage in your picture doesn't look quite the same though

I figured it out! It's narrowleaf bittercress, Cardamine impatiens, a member of the mustard family (yep, related to garlic mustard) and an invasive European weed.

And Amarie, I didn't realize what garlic mustard was. There's a lot of it in my yard (better than the Japanese knotweed), but I always figured it was native. I'll pull it out now!

Popping in to say happy Mom's day to all!

KT, woot for sales!

Lily, woot for relaxed!! :)

Blondie, congrats again to your beau. You two really would have awesome kids (insert caveat I offered clovia and evie on this topic: monkeys are work, and lots of it. Do not procreate without clear understanding of this and desire to be forever known as "booboo's mommy.").

Lovely day here. Hope Y'all had a gorgeous Sunday, too. :)

I swear sometimes it isn't worth helping people

I helped a friend (basically edited his book for him) and have been trying to help him now that he is published. (since he didn't bother learning anything about marketing or whatever) My only advice to him: you write books about serial killers. Get cozy with the horror audience.

So, he has some good connections and lands a blog post on a fairly well known site... On which he shits on S. K1ng, D. K00ntz and the genre in general.

Genre readers don't forget, and they don't forgive.
