There's a fellow at another board I frequent who is spamming, announcing "author Kevin McDonald's" book. (Any time the announcement keeps referring to the writer by full name in the same breath as 'author' or worse, 'published author' my hackles are raised.) I've never heard of the publisher and was curious if others can confirm my suspicions that it's a POD rather than a freshly hatched and utterly clueless publishing house.

The publisher, Rebel's Domain Publishing (http://www.rebelsdomain.com/), has all the earmarks of an imprint created for this book and perhaps others like it (with a focus on exploited children), plus the most convoluted release form for submissions that I've ever started to wade through. The website states that the book can only be ordered from the printer.

It's not listed at Preditors and Editors. A fast google revealed only the guy's other spam and that he is a member of a book group in Orange County, according to BookReaders (http://bookclub.meetup.com/6/member/2024745/)

Anybody ever heard of them?

Maryn, debating whether to report it as spam at the other site or sit back and watch him be devoured by jackals

The "release" form is more suited to screenplays, and I found this:

http://www.mylittlechinadoll.com/wst_page4.html

I'm thinking it's a bunch of guys trying to get their word out, and maybe print some other people's books along the way. I expect that, being more familiar with the film world than the book world, they're used to spamming press releases.

FWIW, the address is a few blocks from my workplace. Industrial/office area.

From http://www.rebelsdomain.com:
So many publishers are only willing to accept writers that tow the line of mediocrity.

Do they mean "toe the line"? Or does mediocrity now come complete with a tow-rope for those who want to drag it around?

Do your prose, flow the way they should?

Ouch! A comma error and an agreement error in the same sentence! One would think that a publisher ought not make errors in spelling, punctuation or grammar.

*giggle* My favorite's on the Authors page: What others are saying about, "Practically Invible."

To misspell your own title takes special skill. :tongue

Note: Per the author's request, 10%
of his profits from the sale of the book
"Practically Invisible" will go directly
to the Children Of The Night!

You know, the Nosferatu are damned tired of the Children of the Night getting all the press. Nosferatu need attention, too.

All that's left of Rebel's page is Kevin's CV. Doesn't look like his other books were published.

Off in my head.
What did happen to Aconite?
I first lurked in the PA section, and I had always enjoyed reading his posts. . .
