You know, when you try quiet guys, you either get a nice guy or a serial killer.

Well, that's what movies tell me at least.

:D

ETA: CIW, I'm totally tweeting that quote in your sigline!

As long as I'm attributed, I can officially cross one of my life goals off my list. :D

I'm in a hitch, guys. Ladies. Whatever word you like:

I need a tactful way to tell a potential beta reader that things won't work.

My MS has already gone through line edits, and she's constantly poking around my words and rearranging sentences. I'm getting the impression she thinks she can write my book better than I can, because her feedback is constantly mucking around with my narrative voice--something that's definitely concrete at this stage of the project.

I just don't want to sound petty and be all "you're nit-picky and I hate you!" :p

I had a beta like this before. Although she hated my book and characters to begin with and told me this numerous times in her comments. (which broke my heart because people tell me alot of horrible comments about my book, but the one universal thing the 30 some people who have read the first 3 chapters have said is they love my characters.)

I warned her my grammar is bad, she said no problem she would correct anything that she saw. What she ended up doing was correcting things... but she corrected them wrong. I didn't notice at first but i let Will see her comments because they really upset me and he was like "First off her correction itself is wrong"

By then end after ripping everything to shreds with her horribly harsh and very confusing comments (Confusing because i had no idea what she was complaining about, and alot of her comments were either explained already which she must have missed or had inaccuracies in them) she made suggestions as to how to improve, which was basically.... Write a different story.

I thanked her for her time and then lied... told her I"ll be going back to edit, and would get back to her if i needed a beta after i was done.

I would be only too happy to bring it up again. I'm watching the first few episodes of Sherlock. For the second night in a row.

I have never had green milk or lucky charms.

We celebrate St. Patrick's by going to parades and celebrating our Irish heritage (my dad's side of the family is Irish).

My mom did that and still does die my milk green every st patricks day!

I'm technically half, but i look, and feel that i'm 100% irish, simply because i was raised by my mom's 100% irish family. I'm half polish (or really russian... long story) but i didn't know/celebrate that half.

We usually go to the parade, here but its just so damn crowded. Think i'm skipping that this year. I'll watch it on tv.

I'm going to make some Spotted Dog (soda bread), and have a nice corned beef sandwich tomorrow.

ETA
My St. Patty's day is most likely going to involve homework, Sherlock, Castle, and staying as far away from the drunk college students as possible.

Tee hee... I'm excited for one of those things. :D

I'm Irish, Scottish, and English. And I have one German ancestor.

So basically, I'm a Viking.

I usually try to stay away from the drunkards too.

My friends from highschool are all going out drinking, but i'm not one of those people who use this holiday just to get shitfaced. I dont even drink.

Another thing my friends dont understand, i'm the only one who doesn't drink and the only one who is actually irish!

If I weren't so distracted I would. ...And I actually kind of want to keep myself distracted. I've been trying to distract myself for the last 24 hours.

Why? Taking a break from writing?

Right now i'm trying to at least get half my book done by sunday night, if not more. Its clear i wont be able to finish it by that time. But at least half would be good.

Writing doesn't distract enough. Sherlock does. ...So I'm watching it again.

...Distraction from the pain in my knee, friends, thinking.... Life in general.

Ahh. I know what you mean. That's what writing does for me. That's probably why i write so much. A drug to take me from reality. Ironically in this scene i'm writing, i'm explaining why Alex writes (which is why i write) and i was just explaining all that.

Well hope everything gets better ((hugs))

Morning! St. Patrick's Day already? Being somewhat Irish, I probably should've known.
Oh well.
