It's not cool to ask you to work 12-hour shifts 4 days a week without paying a proper wage.

Definitely say no or counter-offer.

Ask for the minimum wage. If she can't hire you, she'll have to hire a more expensive professional, so minimum wage isn't a big ask. (Although do be prepared for her to say no.)

Good advice, though I'd ask for a bit above min wage in the anticipation that she'll want to talk you down from whatever price you name.

Hey guys, back from my nap, that wasn't really a nap. More me staring up at the ceiling thinking for hours on end.

Zoey, one summer i got payed for babysitting two little girls 8-10 hours a day for a month. I got $5 a kid per hour. So $10 an hour, it was absolutly amazing to get like $500 a week, all under the table. Now with my job at minimum wage i barely make that much in a month. Take the offer, it will be worth it.

Hey guys,
I'm in the middle of writing, so I'm just taking a quick breather (not really...I'm just hopelessly stuck). I was wondering how a murderer in the 21st century would leave a note along the lines of "Hey. I'm going to kill your friend." (maybe a little more menacing without it being cliched. I already have another character using email, so that one is out. Any helpful ideas?

How about 'say goodbye to your friend'?

Haha, that's a good one. What really stumped me was how to deliver the message though. I feel like a letter in the mail is too cliche.

In one of my books the killer is after the MC's families.

He leaves a note saying "I'll say hi to your families when i see them next."

Later in the series a killer kidnaps one of the MC's little brother and leaves a not saying "You know little Connor looks just like you."

Morning team. Broke 50k on my YA UF overnight. If I can keep this up, I should finish within the month. :D

lilly - for that undertone of personal violation, you could have the killer invade the recipient's house to leave the message. In my urban fantasy one character left a threatening message spelled out in fridge magnets in another character's kitchen. :tongue

THAT IS AWESOME!!!

One of my bad guys once leaves Pip an encrypted computer virus. That just spells out the message over and over again!

Anyway good morning everyone! Congrats on reaching 50K Para!

I'm taking a tiny break from UZ as a new story idea hit me that I feel would be better for me to write right now, but i'm not really aiming for anything to happen to it. Maybe if it ends up good I'll self publish or something, but probably not.

How long is a short story? Just curious, because i think this is what this is going to turn out being, that or a mini novel... which is called a novella right?

What's your short story about?

The SFWA defines it as follows:

Short Story: less than 7,500 words;
Novelette: at least 7,500 words but less than 17,500 words;
Novella: at least 17,500 words but less than 40,000 words
Novel: 40,000 words or more.

Lilly- maybe a DM on Twitter? From a brand new, anonymous account?

ETA: If you're not twitter-savvy, that's short for Direct Message, which is basically a personal tweet only you and the recipient can see.
