You lucky duck! Applying for jobs has become the bane of my existence. :tongue

I wouldn't say it's entirely relaxing - every time I go a day without a client I freak out. But I love doing it, and I'm hoping to build it up into a full-time income over time.

One of the goblins in HP was in the Willy Wonka movie - the original. Wow.

Because of how ... different the characters in those films look. You can't tell it's the same person at all.

HP should've won an Oscar for make up.

So, got the coach's comments! She says I need to work on making Emil sound a little younger... I'm a little unsure how thIs would work, since one of Emil's defining character traits is attempting to act much older than he is. I'm starting to wonder if I should age him up. I think he sounded fine for fourteen, but I dunno.

I'm probably getting too old to remember what fourteen year olds think/sound like, but I didn't think he sounded too old for his age. :tongue

I always find it difficult to write younger characters -- under 12, I mean. I seem to bounce between making them sound too old or too young.

The thing is, I was 14 when I first wrote MAAH, and while I was not like Emil, I used as extensive a vocabulary.

I don't know how to write characters who are fifteen and under because I don't remember what it was like to be that age, even though it was almost three years ago haha.

But you should run that by your coach, Tally. See if you should age him up or try to make him sound a little more vulnerable. I know young teenage boys are always trying to act tough and grown-up when in actuality they're still little kids, in a way. But then again, Emil has been through some pretty messed up stuff, so his experiences does harden him a little.

Part of me wants to say that it would be a good idea to make him a little bit older, sixteen or seventeen perhaps, but...I don't know.

Thalia, I know two of the coaches. Which is yours, out of curiosity?

If it comes down to vocabulary, I feel like they had a different (if not necessarily more extensive) vocabulary back in the day. And, I think, younger kids/teens were taught to speak pretty formally. Especially if they were upper class.

ETA: Aging him up a bit is always a nice option, too.

Actually, my coach said the kids didn't talk that formally (she did research for her own novel).
