I received an invitation awhile back from a Jacob Langley to write some articles for pretty good money. :-) His name was familiar from a freelance-writing job board I had been on some time previously (unfortunately, which board escapes me at the moment), so I took him up on his offer. We were in regular e-mail communication, and payments were due twice a month, on the 10th and 24th. Well, long story short...I wrote 24 articles for this guy in less than two weeks, with payment due on the 10th of December--and, of course, he vanished without a trace. I e-mailed him several times asking about updates, only to then receive a notification from Yahoo that there was no such user at his previous e-mail address.
I know, I know. Sadder but wiser. Just wanted to let people know that if you get any approaches from this guy, under any address whatsoever, ask for payment upfront. And while you're at it, tell him he still owes me, too! :-P
