*One should note, however, that punctuation trends in the English language are continuously changing and that the sentences that people fawned over back in the late 1700's are not the sort of things we aspire to in today's writing, as a matter of fact, you only have to go back into the mid 1960's to see very successful writers in best selling American novels going on and on endlessly for pages at a time with out ever using a period.
