I got lonely here waiting for Cantinaites to wake up and come out to play, so I went over to the Comedy Cabaret to see what they were up to...

Bad Idea™.

Those folks scared me. I ain't going back there without an escort and :guns:or a :whip:.

That is, indeed, NerdCore.

I salute you with a 2D10 roll to save versus Geekiness.

What's scary is that on the NerdCore scale, I'm only fair to midling. That's why I have to flaunt my creds every chance I get.

I'd invite people. If I knew any to invite. I know a grand total of three non-Japanese people. One doesn't read, one is French-Canadian and doesn't read English, the third is British with a masters in political science type thing and has a bit of a 'tude. So, I'm tapped.

I could make a new account and try to do the sock puppet thing, but I'm pretty sure it would only take two posts for you to figure me out. And it wouldn't do any good for me.

Morning folks. I know some of talk about what we are working on but I'm curious to hear what everyone is tackling and what they like about it.

I'm still trying to make time to sit down (ya know, when I'm not chasing skunks who chased me) and polish Wariors Dead; a 9k short. It's about a girl who grows up watching warriors come to fight the lake leviathan in her valley and fail. After seeing two females die before the beast, she takes up a magic sword and with her new horse she plans to do what others could not.

I like it for the jaded MC and her views on the world.

Working on two things at the moment. One, the short you have seen. Editing now. I think it's getting pretty good, for me. Another pass or two before showing anyone though.

The other is hopefully going to be a novel. The male MC is an ugly, bad-mannered old-style changeling who thinks he is human. My avi looks like how I've always pictured him, scarily so.

The female MC is a slightly overweight, middle aged nonconformist wizard type with a fondness for cats in the university. I need to find a pic of her someplace.

The two get together, bicker like an old married couple, and try to prevent the return of the old ones.

ETA: I forgot the why I liked it part.

I like it for the characters mostly. I think they will have a really good dynamic. They are good for each other. I also like the world. The magic system is interesting, and I am still working out some of the wider social implications of it.

I may be a weird man though.
I thought the rulez stated that you had to be weird just to get through the door. :rulez

I'm not really resisting the urge to delete my literary 'scraps' for any practical reason, but rather that I find the whole idea to be extremely distasteful, like I'm going to be losing a part of myself if I go through with it. *sighs*
But then you could write new, sort of literary recycling. :e2writer:

whether her face has been stapled back to her ears or not (rather violent visual there, but that's how I see plastic surgery).
That's the way I've always seen it. :scared:

Not smoking, staying out of the sun (or wearing sunscreen), keeping hydrated, and using a good moisturizer will do more long term than injecting crap into you, anyway.
Agreed
Floppy discs?? :Wha:
1. I am 42 years old. So, anything younger than me is young.
*Calculates* 41 and a half, oo.

2) what? No one else makes rugs? That's not even my weirdest hobby... I make soap, too.
It's been known in this house. Making clothes too - it's the only way I can guarantee they fit.

Linux on my laptops.
We use tux here too. Darn. No penguin smilie.

... and now I stop that before I really get kicked for sexual harassment, haha.
What's far more likely to happen is that we will do it back to you. And there's more of us. And we practise. Regularly!

Thanks for the warning, I'm staying here and waiting for Gilroy to come past with their doughnuts.

Mommy is having complications after surgery :( She got meds she has to take today and if they don't help, she needs to undergo another surgery tomorrow :e2cry:

In other news, Anyanka has ridiculous diarrhea. Good thing I was up anyway to look after mom.

The first should be fun for you to edit. The second sounds fun too :)

I never read the rule book. We have a rule book? good thing I'm weird by nature then.

Keep in mind that I have a birthday next month. I'll be 43. It's a moving target.

We use tux here too. Darn. No penguin smilie.

I am not a huge linux fanboy, but, I have been using fedora since version 7, It is now at 16. I can count the number of system crashes I have had in that time on one hand, and most of them occured immediately after an upgrade while installing stuff. It tended to be easy to fix with reinstalls of the new software.

Nor have I had any virus problems, nor disk defrags, or any other pain in the neck maintenence stuff required just to make the other OS run without causing homicidal thoughts.

And Tens gets one all of her own.

I know exactly how you feel. My dad.

So, here, I got some hugs:Hug2:, :Coffee:,:Cake: or anything else you need. If not, I'll make it. (Don't tell anyone, but I can cook.)

Of course it's a trap. I learned long ago that the quickest way to make a woman happy is to give her good food to eat. So I learned to cook. I'm not a pro. But what I make tastes good.

Can you cook?:wag:

Sorry I've not been in the cantina much lately. Taking care of Mother has taken on new and disturbing dimensions. I may be hard to find for a while, until we get this new routine sorted out.

I will try to check in, post at least once a day. But if I disappear, you'll know it's not because I don't love you. Because I don't. DO, I DO love you, yeah, that's it, sure. ;)

It's 6:30 am and I'm up. I'm also having my day off work. Sigh.

And I think Fen knows... or maybe not. I'm working on editig a completed UF with a government agent who looks for magical folks. Terror ensues. Step 3: Profit.
