Now I want lasagna... I cant get gf lasagna noodles at the local grocers...

Pause the year. Cant end it without lasagna!!!

WEIRD coincidence. I have all the makings -- including the want-to, very important - to make lasagne tonight. Homemade lasagne with two kinds of meat and four kinds of cheese..... and lots of garlic bread....

Been rpg'ing with husband and friends. Eating seven kinds of Christmas cookie. Dinner tonight is crêpes with choice of beef stroganoff, chicken with tomato-oregano sauce, and asparagus with egg-salad sauce, baked potatoes, buttered peas, cute little loaves of homemade bread, and sparkling apple cider.

Happy New Year, all.

With 15 minutes of 2011 left in the GMT Time Zone...,

I failed all my writing resolutions this year, so here they are again:

To complete the two WIPs I have (see sig) and have at least one of them on sub by year end.

Possibly write a new novel, though which of several ideas will depend on what happens to the one(s) on sub.

Write at least one new short story (solo or collaborative). (I did at least submit stories in 2011, though did not sell any.)

Write a radio play - specifically adapt my good friend Marion Arnott's Crime Writers' Association awardwinning story "Prussian Snowdrops" into a 45-minute play aimed at BBC Radio 4's Afternoon Play slot. (I have her permission - we will split the fee if I succeed in selling it.)

2011 was not a good year for me personally, so let's draw a line under it and start afresh.

A very happy new year to all Cantinaites, and let's hope that 2012 brings you what you wish for.

Wherever the robots roam free
For celebrating the new year coming in, I watched a few hours of The Twilight Zone on SyFy (I love this show), and I'll be relaxing with my family for the occasion.

And, in other news, guys...
I really like robots.

Let's see how much of Chapter 3 we can get started before the family drags me away to boring stuff (y'know, merry-making, countdown-clocking, non-alcoholic-binge-drinking, etc).

I'm watching Buffy with my mom, who came to visit again. She actually likes it and is laughing some (she NEVER laughs).

I should record this or something...

I'm having a nice quiet night writing. I opened a bottle of sparkling rose wine to accompany my typing into the new year. I've had it a few years... figured it was time to pop the cork.

May 2012 be better than 2011!

Am I or are you getting all philosophical?

The concept of Buffy is really good and the characters are interesting, I just wish the acting was a little better. Still a great series. :D

If we're gonna go into older fantasy shows Charmed has to be my favorite.

I wasn't aware that sticking large, wooden stakes through the undead had any room for philosophy. All I remember about Buffy half the time is that one of the 90210 actors did the comedy movie original.

... but do NOT get Sara started on movies.

Please.

I'm begging you!

The acting is mostly fine after season 1. There are a few awkward lines, but the actors are comfortable with their characters.

And you can't beat those epic lines like:

<leaving the hospital>
Xander: "There. How you doing?"
Giles (who was stabbed in the gut): "It only hurts while I answer pointless questions."

There's lots of random philosophy within Buffy. This is Whedon we speak of.

Riddle me this. I am a born-and-bred mountain girl, never seen the ocean, not all that motivated to go see the ocean (my sister says it smells bad). So why am I starting to read my THIRD series of historical novels about seafaring? Already worked through the Aubrey Maturin series, and the Hornblower series. Now I'm starting the Alan Lewrie series, and am completely engrossed.

What's wrong with this picture?
