It's been weeks since I posted my first message. Meanwhile I've taken a grand step. A step toward my first rejection, most likely, but still a step.
I have several manuscripts filed away, ranging from some children's stories to a few articles and a full-length novel. Of course, like every author, my longing is to see that novel in print. But the the "grand step" was to submit a children's book.
I went with a children's-only agent who limits all submissions and contacts to e-mail. She asks that a certain number of pages from the manuscript be pasted (not attached) to the initial query.
So..... it's done. My little literary offspring is somewhere across the ethernet in a distant in-box.
An automatic reply (very graciously worded) came back, saying that if I haven't heard from her in six to eight weeks, I should assume..... well, you know.
Off and running.
