Zelenka I looove the hat! And you look so good in it! I can understand a tourist wanting their photo with you. A large Scotch can help you to warm up.

See, there's the drawback to not drinking alcohol! They all got to drink beer on the tour while I sat like a lemon at the end with my diet Coke.

Oh so cute! So you did the tour? How did it go?

Yeah, actually did the tour today. Don't know how but I managed to sell some tickets and actually persuade people to come, plus we had some folks who'd pre-ordered. Just six, but apparently that's about the average for this tour at this time of year. Nice folks, though mostly British and about my age, so no tips :(

We were only about five minutes over the three hours it's supposed to take, and I still had six of them at the end of it. They seemed happy enough. I didn't forget much, not much, but I think I got the important stuff across and they seemed to enjoy themselves. I always worry with the more personal, actually being in close proximity to people tours rather than just standing in front of people, because I know I'm not a naturally friendly or warm person and have to kind of work at it, and generally people don't really like me, so likes of taking them to the Strahov Monastery beer hall for the 12th century recipe beer, where we're all just sitting, that makes me more nervous than actually doing the tour!

Next time will be better though. I think I was just a bit stunned today that there were actual people.

And I have since spent two hours playing around with Paint Shop Pro and making a silly cover for an imaginary book. But it'll do if I end up self pubbing... :)

Hugs back, HJ. Any M/T/Sers ever come to Prague, the Holy Beer of Strahov is on me! (apparently it is really good, I'm almost tempted to try one on Tuesday).

Football is finally over. The varsity finished the year an abysmal 4-6, losing four in a row to close it out. Not good times. Bad times.

Hopefully writing will be good when I start back this week. Or that's the plan.

Why wouldn't it work out as planned? Because baby #2 is on the way and soon! We are thinking that in the next two weeks we will have two kids, and according to Bill Cosby, officially be parents.

The above is a message from my 5 1/2 month old granddaughter. She said congratulations Todd!

Ugh... The new computer I've been :drool over for the past month; the one I plan to get myself in January, just went on sale for $130 off.

Today only.

The mental debate in my mind is most distracting.

A PC with Windows 7
An AMD 8-core processor 3.6GHz each/8MB L2 cache (liquid cooled)
4GB memory (but I'd use $90 of $130 saved to up that to 16GB)
1GB Radeon Graphics card (Mid-range for top of the line games, ultra-high for anything I'd use it for.)
64GB Solid State Drive
Plus a few other minor tweaks...

Today's special at iBuyPower.com. The above configuration: $867.

I love how cheap near top of the line computers are these days. :drool

It's a little more than I need, but I don't have a pet, so it's okay right?

ETA: The solid state drive. This baby will boot up in less than 15 seconds I bet. :drool

Ah. I got all excited thinking it might be a Mac. :tongue

Yes. Yes it is.

But you still should get a kitten. Or a flying squirrel.

16GB RAM????? (drooling), I only have 6GB on mine. Is that showing my geekdom that I got a hot flush from reading that?

Just back from exploring the haunted underground of Prague. Probably enjoyed myself a little too much considering I was meant to be learning the tour route, but it was cool! And we got to root around places where the public aren't allowed.

Pfft, I wouldn't waste my money on such a watered down device.

I'm embarrassed enough that I spent the last year using a $300 eMachine, but I was broke and five grand in debt, so I bought what I could afford.

Now, I've got that much in the bank and feel I deserve a treat. But again, my plan was for January. I hate breaking my plans. :(

Perhaps the after Xmas sales will be just as good...

I guess I'll bet on that.

Did I mention it was SATA and USB 3.0 compliant? :drool

:D I think my needs are probably way simpler than yours.

Keep an eye on Black Friday sales (FatWallet is a good place to get lots of info).

Sounds like fun, Zelenka!

Congrats Todd and Doc! Both, it seems, have babies on the way! :)

As for names, Ram works equally well for a computer or a child.

Well, I held off. I didn't buy the new computer yesterday, but I did go to the site and reset the configuration on their little configurator app.

I sighed deeply several times and then wrote an unrelated blog post.

:e2point: If only they sold those as pets... :D

They do, sadly...

SO. As it turns out, chocolate-covered raspberries are quite good as a pre-writing snack. I knocked out a bunch of words after that. Had I known that was the secret... Well, I'd probably be about a thousand pounds. :D

HJ 'chocolate covered' is a real mystery! What sort of chocolate? White? Dark? How thick was the chocolate? Could you see the raspberry shape or were they bomb shaped? Ovoid? Were the words you knocked out concerning choccy covered fruit or something else? I want details please?
