Mohammed Adnan Al Bakkour, the attorney general for the Syrian province of Hama, resigned in a videotaped message detailing Syrian Army atrocities.
In a video released late Wednesday night, Mr. Bakkour listed a number of reasons for his decision, saying, among other things, that hundreds of demonstrators had been killed while in jail and buried in mass graves and that the army had leveled houses while people were still inside.

Hama was also the scene of perhaps the most brutal and deadly crackdown in the Arab world, carried out in 1982 by Hafez al-Assad, former dictator and father of the current Syrian president.
