Since shiney things are not allowed in the Pit and Purgatory moves at light speed (though, I loves 'em both). I propose this thread for general support, bursts of news (good and bad), and whatever the heck else crosses your minds.

It may catch on or go to the thread graveyard. Only time will tell...

Good idea, Snappy. Sorta like a daily/weekly recap thread.

Yes! In Purg, I miss a lot of good news. And in the Pit, well we have no good news, but if we did... :D

I'm talking with a real live agent tomorrow at 11.

I sent Good Golly Miss Molly to her on Friday morning and read it straight through and contacted me later that day.

I guess that qualifies as good news.

LOVE THIS!
Great so I can say this here, got a full request off of a partial. Agent said very kind words to me that almost made me weep with joy. Was the nicest thing I'd heard about my writing in months :D

Yay Soul! Yay Vandal!!!! So glad to know there is good news, even if it never makes it way all the way to the Pit.

adding my congratulations. That's very good news for you both.

Vandal, is it inappropriate to ask a man what you're wearing to the meeting? Have a good luck charm to take?

Great news, Vandal. Expect you'll report back with graphic details of the meeting.

Soul, partial to full are the very best kind of requests for a full. Wish you well.

Me? I am in limbo.

Started querying two weeks ago. Have some bites from really major players. My situation is that I got an offer ( rather prematurely, I'm afraid) from a very junior agent. The other senior agents reading my book are MIA for the past week. Suspect, they won't get back to me until after labor day. In which case, my junior agent may not wait for me after all.

Am I letting go of a bird at hand for none in the bush?

This is my good news, bad news.

Erm, I think I might actually have a way of making some bucks to tide me over until I get my, yanno, biggish writing paycheck next year.

Not thrilled about going back to this work, but it's with people that I love and I think we can come to a way for it to work that's going to work for me, so I will soldier on.

Alex, good luck with the agents. All other things being equal, trust your gut. There's nothing wrong, imo, with a junior agent if they're at a good agency. And you might get more attention than you would with a big player, but it all depends.

Lisa, yay for work getting paid!

Good luck, Alex. If the agent is willing to wait, don't worry. And yes, junior agent don't stay junior forever. If s/he's at a good agency that has a reputation for growing young agents and you get along, you may do very well together.

Yay for money, Lisa! We do what we have to do. You may even have fun doing it!

Alex I agree with Ink and Kellion. No shame at all in going with a jr. agent if that's what you decide to do!

Be careful with those suns, Soul. Gonna need sunglasses in here.

OOPS! haha. Sorry bout the singed eyeballs, guys!

{{Lisa}} yes soldier on, that's all we can do.
