Anyone have any experience with them? Their website says they are an imprint of Skywater Publishing Company.

Flat Sole Studio http://flatsolestudio.com also seems to be an imprint of Skywater Publishing, best I can tell from vague connections through Google search.

Their Google description, btw, reads as this: Flat Sole Studios | a reasource [sic] for authors.

I can't seem to find much of anything else on them. Their website doesn't list anything but some testimonials - and a list of Recents [sic] News, mostly minor reviews and "upcoming" events from 4-6 weeks ago.

No staff is mentioned, no submission guidelines, nothing. I found them by looking at an ad on the back of a recent Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine - a full-page ad for one of their books. (There's a typo in the ad.) $12.95 for the paperback, no e-book, no "Look Inside" feature on Amazon.

Skywater Publishing has a FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Skywater-Publishing-Company/32654552877?id=32654552877&sk=info but the Skywater website appears to be down. Their Twitter is up but not active. https://twitter.com/SkywaterPub

So who are these people at Flat Sole? Are they just writers publishing themselves under a company name, or what? They've got money for at least some promotions - I imagine a full-page back cover at AHMM isn't cheap.

Third burrow on your left. Your other left.
Flat Sole, Skywater and Sol Books' websites all have the same domain registrant, Blake A. Hoena. Mr. Hoena has an author website, but beyond referring to himself as "Independent Writer and Editor", makes no mention of any of the above 3 entities.

His own books (children's fiction) are published by another company, with a different registrant and address and, I'd assume, totally separate from his own publishing enterprises.

Sol Books is gone, and Skywater pages have been either removed or rebranded as Flat Sole (which remains active).
