    You do your own covers.

    I haven't heard of them doing any editing on accepted items but I wouldn't be surprised if they pointed out anything minor they notice in the review process.

    Generally, you just self-pub it first, and then submit the details.

    (They do accept direct submissions, but there's no advantage to doing so. The only people I know that have had things accepted published them first through KDP.)

    The advantages are 70% royalty rate on items priced less than $2.99, and some marketing push from Amazon.
