    Little Acorn Press

Does anyone know anything about Little Acorn Press, or about their competitions?

Prize is publication by yet another POD house founded to self-publish. Royalties are "22% of sales" (meaning net, since "[b]y ordering books direct from us, we are able to pay higher royalties"). And they look to be only available from the site: Amazon US lists all LAP books as "Out of Print--Limited Availability" with no sales rank, and the few listed on Amazon UK are also "out of stock" with no sales rank (example).

Of the winners of past contests, only one is specified as having accepted the prize, and there is no sign of his book elsewhere on or off the site, despite the presumably imminent release "within 12 months of contract".

Side note: Mel(anie) Amann at one point listed herself as a literary agent: http://www.writers.net/agents/78997, http://www.authoradvance.com/agencie...iterary-agency

Foot note: The 2nd Place humor story was previously published here (.pdf, page 15). On the author's website we learn the illustrated version will be published by LAP in 2012.

Thanks, Vandal. I know of someone who "won" a contract but not yet received it. Looks like they should bin it if it ever arrives.
