Vampire Diaries is back in the UK in under an hour!! :') I'm hoping I will get lots of ideas for TMB during the breaks, haha.

THE NEW DEAL WAS AWESOMETASTIC.

The next five/six episodes are seriously all among my favorites, with one exception (3x12, which was very good, but not up there with Our Town or Dangerous Liasons or anything because... WOW. I can't explain how much I LOVE those).

I've figured out that

a) not much happens in February
b) SOMETHING HAPPENS TO TRIGGER PRUDENCE'S SUICIDAL THOUGHTS.

I can't think what though. Has anyone else suffered from this? (I did, because I felt lonely and useless and unwanted, but this wouldn't fit Prudence).

Hullo. Also I have no idea for your question. I've had suicidal thoughts before but it was a buildup of stuff over a long time, not just something triggering them.

This is over a period of time. I need to think of something that would trigger them.

But anything could trigger her.

Someone close to her could die or fall ill. She could fail at something she really wanted to succeed at. Someone she thought was her friend could turn on her. But I don't know, because I don't know your character.

I just wanted general ideas about the sort of thing that triggers suicide -- in case any of them made Prudence scream at me.

Anything can trigger suicide. Even something as seemingly insignificant as a bad grade. If you're close enough to your breaking point, the mildest thing can break you.

An excellent read to see how stuff can build up to trigger suicide is 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

ETA: I'm about to vanish again, since class will be over as soon as we finish the slide we're on.

A really good suicide attempt scene in a movie is the one in Cyberbully. The movie itself is cheesy, but I sobbed like a baby during the suicide attempt scene.

Maybe someone could spread a rumour about Prudence and her parents hear?

Hmm... a rumour? That sounds interesting...

ETA: I keep getting obsessed with Skillet. They keep coming on my last.fm.

Like, is she in high school? Is she bullied? She's friends with the male MC by then, right?

Maybe one of the mean girls knows the guy and likes him, or sees them together and thinks Prudence has a boyfriend while she doesn't, or something, and spreads a rumor that he knocked her up or something, and then her parents hear and think it's true, and she gets super ashamed and no one believes her?

literally straight off the top of my head.

High school in the US finishes when you're about 18, though you could be barely 18 or almost 19.

Like, if she turns 18 in January, she's still in high school. But if she turned 18 in December, probably not.

Although if her birthday was in december, it's not uncommon for parents to hold their kids back a year so they aren't the youngest and tiniest in their class.

I have a lot of cousins who were the youngest in their grades and got picked on and were never the smartest or the fastest or the strongest or anything like that, so their parents held their younger siblings back so they could be the oldest (if said sibling had a late birthday).

What about eighteen in August?

The only problem with fantasy soundtracks: THEY MAKE ME WANT TO RESTART UNDERDOGS (which I might do for CampWrimo).

Oh, okay. I shall need to include school then.

ETA: I am corrected. I do not.

I am going to bed now.

^What I was saying. Depends on your month of birth and/or if you skipped a grade or repeated a grade, or started school early or late.
