Google Analytics for Blogger

I'm wanting to track who is viewing my blog and was told to use google analytics. I tried using it last night, and am totally confused by the directions. It says to go to your homepage and look for profile settings, then press analytics, then edit, then check status. I signed in, went back to my homepage, and didn't see anything that said profile settings. It says "settings" on my dashboard, so I tried that route, but was unable to follow through with any of the other directions. Anybody know where I'm going wrong?
