Is anyone still watching Naruto Shippuuden? Is it worth it to pick it back up?

Naruto hasn't been interesting for a while now and the current episodes are best described as 'bleh'. Giant fight scene with tons of characters I don't care about, yay! I just want it to end already.

I watched the first two episodes of Total Eclipse today. It's not going to be a happy show at all. I'm cautiously interested.

And I would need to find the time to actually finish my work in progress before I could begin to try to sell it.

If I were the god of time, I'd give you 36-hour days.

(If I could find some time between fending off all the other deities' requests to make their respective worship days like a hundred hours long and helping the other gods reverse the incompetence of Ohmy Gawd before it does too much damage to humanity.)

Hm, there's only two episodes of Deadman Wonderland left. The finale should be pretty epic; though I wish it would have gotten a second season to go deeper into the manga's storyline. There is an OVA that takes place a couple years after the finale and with any luck, Toonami will show that.

This portrayal of a stereotypical American had me rolling.

And this did too.

Heh, actually both these scenes exemplify what I don't like about some anime. Not my type of humour, really.

Is Hetalia good? I've heard a bit about it but not too much. All of what I heard was good though.

I've seen a couple of episodes; quite liked it. Might give it an extended watch some time.

Really? It's going to end soon? I was feeling like it was just getting started. Wow.

Was in downtown LA today and managed to get to the Kukinokiya bookstore in Little Tokyo.

This was the take:

I got Bakuman just because I knew for sure it had full furigana. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the Haruhi manga also has full furigana, making me wish I'd bought more volumes of it. I can't quite tell for sure, but I think the copy of Disappearance is the light novel put to screen caps from the movie, along with a bunch of interviews at the end. Neither Disapperance nor Ore no Kouhai have full furigana, of course, but I can work up to that. Couldn't find Ore no Imouto, either. The art books are what really put the dent in my wallet. Man, I wish I coulda stayed longer!! But family...

Also, I just discovered OS X's built-in Japanese-English dictionary. :D :D

ETA: Can't figure out why my pic is sideways...

Yay for the purchases. What's that next to Evangelion? It looks terribly familiar. (Was wondering about Bakuman.)

Macross Frontier. (The movies, specifically.) If you haven't seen it (or them), watch it (or them) now! (It'll probably never, ever get licensed in the West, so don't expect to be able to buy it outside of Japan anytime soon, though.)

Yeah, in the context of a narrative, like when I'm reading/watching a story or whatever, I don't normally like this sort of humor, but little clips are very different for me.

I can sort of see what you mean, there.

Okay, Koi to Senkyou to Chocolate seems to be more ambitious than I thought. The first episode starts with a pretty brutal bit about election spionage, which already surprised me. I changed my impression from silly harem comedy to thriller in which unwary hedonists stumble into power struggle (disguising as a silly harem comedy). And then episode 4 comes along...

*Spoilers*

...and basically tells us that the money they intend to withdraw from the more frivolous clubs is supposed to go to a scholarship program that replaces the current financial aid program, thereby reducing pressure for the less well-off, and here are the sons and daughters of the fairly well off worrying about not being able to get together and sample sweets. Meanwhile, our beloved poor girl who works so hard is being bullied. And you can't just white-knight your way in. I did not expect that development.

Now I'm afraid that the plot will collapse in on itself. But so far they're doing fine. The show's better than I expected.

Today for lunch I had a bento box from a convenience store in Little Tokyo while on the train to San Diego. Man, I really wish our baths were Japanese style.

A great, full-furigana manga is The World God Only Knows. The manga shifts from the episodic conquest arcs in the two seasons of the anime to longer arcs, with divine beings, dark conspiracies, bloody fights, time travel, the works.

Thanks for the tip. I quite liked the TWGOK anime.

However, I've also decided to just fuck it and throw myself headfirst into learning the kanji forms of new vocab. It feels like it'll be easier that way in the long run.

Lololol @ episode 4 of Kokoro Connect

This show just keeps getting better.

Heh.

Anyway, I just completed my Madoka set; episode 2 was hard to find for some reason. Anyway, the store where I bought it has re-arranged their dvd section. Anime is now next to porn; and between anime and porn is... anime porn. I look at the titles, thining: the worst of both worlds... Nope, I'm not a fan. Hentai is not for me. But you can buy it in mainstream shops around here. Apparantly. Maybe they're experimenting?

Now I feel judgemental. I'm growing old.

I have a kanji book called The Original Modern Reader's Japanese-English Character Dictionary, and I love it.

It is possible that learning kanji can help you understand the language, remember words, and to learn faster, though I guess it is different for different people.

I'm not finding kanji on their own terribly hard, following the Remember the Kanji ordering, which is pretty intuitive, but I don't want to get behind on learning vocab without kanji, too, so I'm ending up with an awful lot to review at once.

Dammit I've been conditioned to get extremely uncomfortable and nervous and at ease all at once every time I hear a cover of Fry Me to The Moon now!

Sengoku Collection pulled off another brilliant episode this week. The episodic format with frequent style/mood changes pays off. The show's better than I'd have thought (though it's very uneven).
