Still crickets.

But...
Getting close to the response window at Strange Horizons. Probably hear back by the end of the week from Leodegraunce.

So I'm sure the Rs will come soon. ;)

Just got my R from Abyss & Apex. First time I've subbed there, and I can't tell if this is form or not;

I'm guessing it is. Either way, still a no.

Hugs for you!

I'm there too. My first time as well. I have wanted to sub there before, but they always seemed to be closed when I had something to send them.

When I get my R I'll compare it to yours!

I guess I'm not the only one getting hit with the rejection stick. :D

I got one last night from Fiender Stitch, and one from LORE this morning. I'm wondering, is this form or is it 'almost made it'? (first time I've submitted to LORE)
Thanks for submitting [story] for our consideration, and for your interest in LORE.

I enjoyed aspects of this tale, but I am going to pass on this particular effort.

I hope you will submit something more to us in the future.

Hmm. Maybe a second tier rejection then. Don't think it was personal though. Thanks for letting me know, and commiserations again about your R!

I'm not too bothered. It's already out the door to Bull Spec, and I've got to say I've never seen an acknowledgement email that's been so clear about the submissions process before. Good job, Bull Spec.

Ah, I think I may sub to Bull Spec as well. It says on Duotropes that they accept soft horror -- can psychological horror fall into "soft"? It's not like there are any bogey monsters or things jumping out at the victims -- err, characters. :D

Wow, it seems like the rejection train is rolling in for everyone right now. Sorry to hear it. :( I'm a part of the club, too. Yesterday, I got a record 4 rejections in one day, two of which came three minutes apart. They were, in order, a form from Strange Horizons, a form from Clarkesworld, a personal from Fender Stitch, and a personal one for a poem at Ideomancer. Whew, I got tired just typing all that lol Oh, and then I got a form rejection from Jabberwocky this morning.

At long last, that 536-day old cricket has gone on to the great big rejectiony meadow in the sky. Encouraging personal rejection (of the "send us more" variety) from Tor.com

So it goes.

Hugs, rejectioneers.

Chris: Sadly that A&A rejection is form. I know that form all too well... :)

Never subbed to Lore yet, so can't help with deciphering that one...

My crickets are very stubborn, living on way past their prime and bankrupting the cricket social security system. Lots of stories in round 2 / advanced past slush / etc. Hoping to hear SOMEthing from SOMEone this week.

(((((Sammy and Suzanne))))))

That's a hell of a wait, Suzanne! I'm gobsmacked.
At least they sent a personal.

Yup! Izz told me it's a second-tier form, so that's something at least.

Had an email from Basement Stories this morning saying they've worked up a large backlog but are getting through it "swiftly". Which just means I won't have to wait much longer for the inevitable R.

That's pretty cool. I don;t think I ever got a different R form from them, so if it's second tier I feel better about at least being consistent :)

Looking over their emails, they threw in a line or two of personalized comments 2 out of 3 times (though not for what I think is the best of the 3 stories I've sent them, so *shrug*)

Rejection this morning from Tin House.

Blah. The problem with writing outside my normal genre is finding other markets. Especially for literary second person flash. Yikes.

Aggy, back to Duotrope

*hugs* for the incoming Rs, and a sad farewell to the 500 day plus cricket, poor thing held on for a while, sorry that was the end it received.

I'm all crickets myself, now at or past the 'average' return times, or expected return times per the sights.

Personal from Lightspeed today. Took JJA a whole 24 hours to get round to it. That's the longest he's had one of mine, I think.

No idea where I'm going to send this story next. It's near-future soft sci-fi with some pretty graphic sex (but by no means is it erotica). Completely stumped.
