Maybe they got backed up b/c of their feedback policy and just went ahead and started sending out forms. It's more than likely not personal. :)

Hang in there, guys! Rejections are just business decisions. A form rejection means nothing but "not for us."

I got one a few days ago, but I can't remember from where or for what. I also just got a really nice rejection from Stone Telling, one of those oh-so-close-but-not-quites. I don't feel the least bit bad about it, though. It's one of the most praise-filled rejections I've ever gotten, and I have confidence in the poem. Just a matter of getting it to the right place.

An acceptance is always best, but hey, nice rejections are, well, nice. ;) I'll definitely submit there again, if I feel I have something appropriate for them.

Did you know Rose actually frequents AW? I've gotten a few very gracious rejections from ST, and a few requests by the guest editors for revisions but not a publication yet. I really like that poetry site.

Rose used to hang out with us here at W1S1 but I haven't seen her around in the last couple of months. Hope her writing and editing is going really well.

Rose gave up on AW a while ago; check her posts, her sig now says "Donewith AW." She's very active on Livejournal, but I don't know what happened over here to offend her. She's been a massive help to me over the last year though, and Stone Telling is a great 'zine. Sorry to hear about the R Shelley!

R from GigaNotaSaurus today for The Weather Is Always Fine in Paradise.

Just as well. I'm still hoping GUD will pick it up.

That you do! :PartySmil

Hey, at least you you made it further than me. :) Now kick it back out there!

Oh, Abyss&Apex is about to close their reading period at the end of the month, and they accept flash (but not horror), so might want to try them.

Yeah, I saw that. That may be what I end up doing with it. My main issue, as I see it, is that the story is "barely" sci-fi. Except for a brief mention of nanobots, magna-bombs (The first draft had a really infodumpy paragraph or two on how, precisely, a magna-bomb worked, I think in a desperate attempt to show "YES THIS IS A SCIENCE-FICTION STORY THANKS"), and the setting up action takingplace on a space station, there isn't really anything about the story that couldn't take place in the present-day. Still, it's worth a shot. Looks like a tough market to crack according to Duotrope, but I figure a ~1% chance of acceptance is better than the 0% chance I have if I don't submit. :p

Well, if you don't submit you'll never know!

I try to avoid explaining the technology in my sci-fi. It's there and does its thing, and that's it.

You are allowed 1 mars bar for the first rejection. At every 100th rejection you get a nice meal out.

OK, I am up to my 11th rejection this month. That's a record for me. Hoping for one more response before the month ends, to get to a dozen.

Got my nicest rejection yet today. Where's a mixed-feelings emoticon?

Sorry to hear that, Annie. But niceness helps take the sting away. Not a lot, but a little.

It's been nothing but rejections over here. I'm not giving up or anything, I'm too stubborn for that, but man it's discouraging.

Yeah, it definitely helps. This one almost made it, & there was some specific feedback, so that's good to have.

Hang in there!
