Yeah. Crickets for me too.

But the first R has come in for the Redstone Id contest.
And I really rated the story I sent in for that, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping.
And checking my email for Rs. Lol.

crunchyblanket: Congratulations on the first response. View it not as a rejection but as the first step to an acceptance. Now go submit that story elsewhere!

I just received my first ever rejection slip through the post today, from Black Static. I'm weirdly excited about it - this is the first time I've ever attempted to submit something and even though they said no, I feel good for having done it. Disappointed too, obviously, but I had a feeling I was batting above my average. I suppose I should look around for other places to sub to

Congratumiserations. As Alex said, send the story out again. And when you get to a nice round number of rejections, you're allowed to throw yourself a party, just to celebrate that you're still in the game. :) Acceptances will come along too, and feel all the sweeter for the road to get to them.

I love my paper rejection slips. They make the whole process feel much more real than an inbox full of 'No'.

I keep them all in a shiny box.

My paper rejection slips receive a proper burial in the trash bin by my desk. Guess I'm not very sentimental. :) I actually far prefer e-submissions and have only done a handful of paper ones.

Just got a very detailed personal from Beneath Ceaseless Skies. It's the first time I've subbed to them, so it's nice not to have got a form R straight off the bat. Other than that, crickets.

Got a second form rejection from this particular publisher. I'm only mentioning it here to keep myself from dwelling on this publication's terrible decision. Poor naive editors.

Still crickets from 10Flash. I'm still below the mean/median for current pending responses, so I'm trying not to read too much into anything here.

Have a rejection party with rejection cookies?
Mmm, cookies. :drool

Sorry about the rejection, Pan. But cookies are nice, right?

Hopefully that's a sign that they're considering it. ;)

rejection cookies?

But nobody eats them!

I've been amusing myself (or something) with leaps of emotional logic...conjuring either rejections or major story criticisms out of routine market announcements that said no such thing. Fun, right?

Sorry about the rejections. I've gotten plenty myself. I keep them tacked up on a nail next to my desk. Kind of like trophies I guess.

They just remind me not to give up!
