Hi, guys!

I have a question for the ladies.

I'm writing a Mills and Boon Medical style piece for uni and I'm wondering what a woman would go to a gynecologist for.

Well, I went and did it. I jumped on the trailer bandwagon. I found a gal who does great work so I hired her out and you know what? I couldn't be happier with the results! So let the great trailer debates begin anew and let me know what y'all think:

Happy Friday everyone!

Hi mellymel, I think that's where a little of my problem lies. I want the ending to be perfect that I keep thinking about it rather than just write.

Hi Sage, Kansas and everyone else. EEEK...the dreaded query. Good luck, Sage! I've never written a query before and just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. LOL. I've done some research and I'll have to do more before I even attempt to write one.

Lisalulu, is Paragon Academy the title of your WIP? It's catching. :)

See what happens when you're new. I meant good luck Kansas on the RH query. LOL

Yes!!! Exact same problem. Wrote everything else really fast, but somehow paralyzed when it comes to the last few chapters. Just like you, I have it all outlined and know the ending, and still not capable of writing it. Fighting the itch to start revising before finishing.

That happened to me on my first book. I knew what would happen but just couldn't bring myself to write it. I think part of me was actually sad to end the book because I had spent so much time on it. I think I didn't quite know how to segway to the ending scenes. But one day it suddenly hit me and the final two chapters just poured out!

Whew, it's good to know I'm not the only one. :)

I'm not sure if this is where I can ask this, but has anyone taken a look at the Digital First Series from Harlequin?

Woman goes into gynecologist's office and sits down, unaware there's a hidden camera underneath the carpet shooting upskirt videos. "Doc," she cries emotionally, tears dripping down her Botox-smoothened face. "I couldn't sleep well last night."

The gynecologist jots down "Viagra Benadryl 256mg" on his prescription pad and says, "What did you eat before going to bed?"

"I didn't go to bed."

"Then what happened?"

"I got drunk. When I woke up, I was in my student's room, naked."

The gynecologist leans over. "You were sleeping with your student?"

"Are you kidding me? No. He was watching. His dad was in the bed, and he'd turned into a werebear."

"Did you mean werewolf?"

"No. Werebear. A bear. You're going to love those muscles. And there's more. His wife was also there, and she's become a vampire. You know, fangs."

"Wow. Don't tell me there was also a zombie."

"Are you stoned? No. But there was a succubus. She was gay. But oh boy, she was good. You're not going to believe it."

The gynecologist gets up, with an obvious boner, and heads to the closet.

"Where are you going?" the woman says.

"As you know, Mary Sue, I'm also an anspiring writer. I'm going there for my story research. Let's go, NOW!!!"

TGIF!

Welcome, HatTrick!

Lisalulu09 - An annual pap smear would be a common reason.

There's this cool gallery opening this weekend in my neck of the woods: http://nineteeneightyeight.com/pages/currently-at-melrose
The exhibit is called 'Young Adult' and as the poster says it's going to feature art inspired by favorite childhood novels. Made me think of this board. I'm already loving the Sweet Valley art on the poster. I can't attend the opening this weekend (going to see Warm Bodies instead) but I will check it out before it leaves. I wonder what other books will be featured.

I like the name of that Gallery. Sounds like a cool exhibit. Melrose...as in Melrose Place in California?

Lisa, to get birth control, to remove birth control, get emergency birth control, pap smear, treatment of a vaginal itch....

Why does writing that make me twitch?

Hi! I'm new to AW and wanted to jump in on this thread. I am working on a YA Romance. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

For some reason I read that as "YA Bromance," which I was really excited about there for a second. :) YA Romance is good too, though. Welcome!

And Smiley, YAY! Congrats. Dancing snoopys all around. :snoopy:

I second everything that has been said so far about gynos. Also any sort of menstrual problem. (Sorry, Kansas...we're done...)

JSS! It's okay. Really. Ever since I dropped out of the corporate rat-race, I basically only talk to women any more. So I'm getting sorta' anesthetized to such talk.

You should see the looks on the neighborhood women's faces when I walk into the monthly book club meetings hoisting a six-pack.

Congrats, Smiley!

Kansas, you could also go if you are having migraines, depression, unexplained weight gain/loss because those can be related to hormone imbalance.

I'm definitely not the one to write a Bromance, but I would love to read one. :)

Cheering you all on!
Congrats, Smiley.

Lisa, the most common would be an annual pap smear, but I don't know that a lot of teens go for that reason. I didn't. I also didn't go as a teen for BC, but I know a lot of teens go for that. Abnormal menstruation (or at least they should). I went for the first time because I had a cyst that wouldn't stop bleeding and needed to be removed. Obviously I didn't know it was a cyst when I went.

For some reason I read that as "YA Bromance," which I was really excited about there for a second. :)
No, no, that's me
