This thread is now a Sticky. Why? Two reasons...

1) Mac snuck up behind me, knocked me down and made me a Mod last night. So, um, hi. I have new buttons and no clue what I'm doing, yet. ;)

2) The Musical Chairs BlogFest has caught the interest of many an AWer, so we're going to make this a regular thing. Each month, a slightly varied "game" will take place where you all can flex your writing muscles and try something new.

I'll update this post each month to reflect the current game and list of participants, plus past games.

Hope you all come and play!

After speaking on Twitter with our lovely AWers BigWords , AuburnAssassin and scarletpeaches... I had an idea.

Why don't we do a blogfest related to genres? A sort of musical chairs.

As in, why don't we all list our names, websites and preferred genre. Then through a fair and scientific method *cough* drawing names from a cup *cough* we'd each be assigned to a genre different than our own. Each of us would be responsible for writing a flash piece (under 1000 words) in our assigned genre during the month of January.

So what do you think? If you're interested, post your info and let's start the chain game... ;)

Only thing I can't do is erotica b/c I'm an elementary school teacher and not quite sure how well that would go over. ;-)

I have the feeling this is my fault, so it's okay to blame me for the idea...

Claire Gillian
http://clairegillian.com/

My novels have thus far been romance, rom-com, rom-sus, urban fantasy and suspense. Flashes have been all over the board. But I'm game for anything, love trying new genres.

Welcome! :) And hehe... I think Gary would do well with women's fic. :D Amanda, you could always password protect it and put the password here. ;)

No women's fic. No. Just no. My head will explode if I attempt that.

I promise to not fill the cup with an unfair number of women's fic just for you. ;)

Oooh, me likey.

Hillary Jacques

Urban Fantasy

So, just to clarify, these would be posted in order or as a big "reveal" at the end of the month?

Hillary, IDK. :) I guess we can wait and see how many people we get before picking the reveal times?

Scarlett Parrish. Erotica/erotic romance.

I have a book release in January so if this interferes with that or ruins sales, I'm gonna hunt you down and make you all pay.

Émilie Poissenot (but Aheila is my online pen name)
http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com/
I write... gosh... Urban Fantasy, Steampunk, Cyberpunk, Poetry/Lyrics...
Like Claire my shorts (and novel subplots) are all over the place.
I kind of have a "quest to a better writerly me through experimentation with genres." *laughs*

I'd like to play, too, if possible. I was in the December blog chain, but I'm not a published author so don't have an identifiable genre. I think I lean toward mystery/crime fiction. At least that's my WIP novel.

Sounds fun!

I'd love to give it a try. I write horror, dark fantasy, some urban fantasy, some regular old fantasy... you know, speculative fic.
