Most of the folks I know (in the reform Jewish LGBT community, where LGBT folk DO have equality within the faith) are taking this as a remarkable step forward, but there's still a long way to go. I do think this will make things better for a lot of people, though. They basically say, treat gays with respect as you would treat anyone...but don't perform their marriages, and feel free to discriminate against them when considering them for membership or leadership roles within the community. Ah well, change is slow.

You can only take one step at a time, and I'm pleased that they have taken this step. Now, if their views could spread to this side of the pond as well, it would be excellent. Particularly Jerusalem suffers from attacks from the orthodox during Pride, for instance.
