AW Books in The Wild

Deleted member 42

A few years ago, I spotted AW member J. M. McDermott's book Last Dragon at the UCLA Books store.

I took a picture, and posted it (I note that in the picture, I am holding the book upside down; this typical for me).

A few weeks ago, I was on Twitter with another AW author, and tweeting about my desire to go to Barnes and Noble, and look for her book in the wild; she encouraged me to post pictures—and thus, this thread was born.

These are pictures I've taken of AW author's books spotted "in the wild."

I encourage you to post similar pictures. I'd particularly encourage folk to post pictures from indie bookstores.

Post the actual image up at Photobucket or Flickr, or your own site, and then just link to the image here.

Note the book, the author, and if you're comfortable with it, the name of the bookstore, or if it's an indie rather than a chain.

Just because I still feel like an idiot for posting a picture of J. M. McDermott's Last Dragon upside down, here's another of the pictures I took that day at UCLA's Ackerman Union, where the bookstore is.

Spotted all three of these on my trip to Chapters, when I was over in St. John's, Newfoundland with my sweetie (fiancee) Brainstorm77 :D

Not in a bookstore, but I saw John Robison's Look Me In the Eye recommended from one parent to another on another internet board I go to. :)

I've spotted a few AWer's books in the wild, but never got a pic unfortunately.

I have to say, the 'new' ads at the top (read books by AWers) is very helpful in having me spot these books in the wild. Perhaps we can do a mockumentary :D

I saw Kelly's book 'Three Days to Dead' a few weeks ago. Sorry, no pics of it. It was in a Waterstones shop.

Just so happens I saw this book in the wild...on my husband's nightstand! I did a doubletake and then grinned.

BTW: husband enjoyed it very much.

That reminds me! I bought Kelly's book after taking the photo of it. :D

*cough* And Jess's *cough*

(Stacia's were already shown off ;) )

Snicker - when I do book signings, if it's quiet I get AWer's books and put them on the relevant promo table as prominently as possible :D

Here, there, everywhere.
No pics but I saw (and screamed and got everyone in the store looking at me) and bought a 4th edition - in portuguese - of Debra Doyle's and James D. Macdonald's Circle of Magic: School of Wizardry.

No pics (I can't believe I didn't get a picture! I even thought about it, but then forgot before I actually got the camera out), but yesterday I saw a Cathy Clamp & C.T. Adams book and a Stacia Kane book in the huge Forbidden Planet in London. It made me squee a little. They were Serpent Moon and I believe Unholy Ghosts, respectively. Both were face out, too! :)

So fun! I often want to take photos of AW books but never have a camera with me.

I blogged about all the books I've seen (and most of them fairly recently, I might add) while at work. No actual pictures (I'm kinda busy), but it is cool to unbox them or see them on a promo.

And yes, if I know you, I'll face your book out (I've done this with other authors I know, hehe).

I confess to doing that too. I'm careful about not usurping end-cap space or table space, but I'll totally face out.

I was at Chapters yesterday and noticed that Stacia's books now have a bigger display on the shelf. Always a good thing :)

As promised!

Spot the AWer books (I didn't even have to move any face out!)

Fenika grinning foolishly (and creepily oO) about the copy of Poison Throne she's about to buy:

More copies by my feet.

There may have been more AWer books but Etola and I were chatting away so much we prolly overlooked them :) (This was also our first IRL meet up)

(I should point out all those copies of As Lie the Dead in the first AND second photo. CT will be doing a signing at the Newark/Christiana Mall B&N this Saturday. Details in the SFF forum)
