So...um...how do these guys stay afloat financial-wise?

Also to know, the owner is a writer with no apparent publishing experience in any field.

Jeez, are those covers awful.

Probably don't have a cover artist. And if they can't afford a cover artist (because they're not making their money from sales apparently) what else don't they have?

I'll second that. Yikes.

The pay is five bucks.

You'd make more cash in less time mowing a neighbor's lawn or cleaning a house.

Hate the name, covers suck, strictly amateur night.

Waste of time/effort for anyone wanting a pro credit.

Better markets are out there, run by people who know what they're doing.

Five bucks plus royalties. Looks like an author co-op including some reasonably well known ebook authors.

How on earth did they come up with that name? And those are the most awful book covers I have ever seen! Yuck!!

The problems with this...

1. The salary, 5 bucks. Not worth it.
2. The covers are terrible. Maybe I could do better ones.
3. A publisher who is using blogspot and gmail for business... sounds fishy.
4. Not a single name mentioned regarding the staff. They're just the "The Crew at MFFiction "... definitely fishy.

Most epublishers pay royalties only, I don't she how $5 plus royalties is somehow worst than royaties alone.

It is an anthology, the royalty is split by the number of contributors (8)--the only dodgy thing being that the cover artists gets an equall share. But comparing cover art to a short story perhaos that isn't too off kilter in terms of equivalency of effort.

As a publisher they would be underwhelming--as a non-proft making ebook author co-op they are pretty standard.

Owner is a writer herself, and doesn't appear to have any publishing experience. Given that and the covers, I'd be awfully surprised if any of the staff have any experience.

I just clicked on several links to look at the books on Smashwords and it says that the books are no longer published.
