Latest News from Editors

I have a friend who illustrates PBs for large publishing houses. Her agent sends out emails with the latest news from editors. Here are two:

They want manuscripts for PBs that hit them like the "proverbial lightening bolt." Not just joyous or lend themselves to great illustrations.

They also would like PBs that could lend themselves to stuffed animals, toys, etc. There's a word for that, but it's slipping my mind right now. I need more coffee.

Hmmm...not branding...tie-in maybe? Geez. I'm on my third cup of coffee and the brain isn't working today.

No, not licensing (though that's part of it). It's another term used in the business. All I can come up with now is "tie-in."

Anyway, what I wrote above is direct from editors in the large publishing houses.
