Wow, can't believe it's been a month since I signed up and I still haven't made an intro! Here's goes nothing....
I was one of those kids who spent nearly all my free time either reading or writing...probably as a means of escape from my oppressive religious upbringing. (But that's a story for another day!) In high school I was mainly into science fiction/fantasy, and wrote a few novel-length pieces. (Utter crap, of course, as I look back on them...haha.)
Several years ago I got serious about this futuristic thriller of mine. Midway through I lost the drive to continue, but then the book Novelist's Boot Camp inspired/motivated me to get kicking again. Finished the story up a few months back, and now I'm nearly halfway through the sequel. But I do have to give a tremendous amount of thanks to a great writer and a personal friend of mine who administered some amazing editing and critique.
Last month I was laid off from my position at an architectural firm, so now I'm hunting for both a new job and a literary agent. Lovely!
I'll be the first to admit I don't read as much as I should nowadays, but nevertheless, here's some of my favorite stories...
Fahrenheit 451
Dragonseed, by Pearl S. Buck
Anna Karenina
Z for Zechariah
Alas, Babylon
Jaws
Harry Potter series
Hope to start getting more involved in the forums soon.
Thanks for listening to me babble!
