Hi, all
I've lurked around the boards for years -quite literally. I wrote obsessively for years before full time work intervened(those pesky kids getting older and taking away my excuse for not working!) and then got lost in the hectic world of the office. Now I'm ready to dive back in and what better place to come for support than these forums?
I'm currently working on a historical novel set in the early eighteenth century, desperately trying to not include the historical figure that inspired it because of the kind of ethical questions that are currently being debated in the Historical section of the forum. But that's my area, along with poetry. I just need to drum up enough courage to post some poetry here for some proper critique.
I've worked in fanfiction for the past six years. It's a much-derided old world, but it's a good place to hone skills and to help others with their writing. At the high end, it's a great school to learn and a great sand box to play in.
On a more personal level, I'm almost 40, live with my lovely family in Yorkshire, England and work in the wine trade for a large retailer. (this is a tough job but someone has to do it?) I'm looking forward to getting more involved in the forum and getting to know some new people, which is always a great adventure.
