Greetings,
I'm new here, so let me tell you first why I have come to this site:
I've been working on the first three chapters written of my first novel for the last five years*, and every so often I pick it up again and rewrite those chapters. The ending is clear, too -- the villain must be caught. But that middle - oy, it is so hard to get that part.
I'm trying again, but using a different technique - instead of trying to make the story better at the beginning and hoping that will somehow make the middle flow, I just have started writing down plot ideas, character descriptions, and a story outline, and have been making myself write 3000 words a day. Slowly the story is taking shape and the characters are coming to life.
My hope now is to have 90,000 words by Jan 31 that I can then start editing. I already have my second novel idea waiting in the wings, but I need to get this first one out of my head. And I have the inkling of the third...
So I'm glad to be here, and glad to have found this resource.
And one final question - should I sign a contract with PublishAmerica? They seem so helpful.
Just kidding on the last one. The endless threads (NEPATs all) kept me laughing last night.
* no, it's not based upon Jason Robert Brown
