Ok, so I'm a writer trapped in the producer's body . . . have a great job but I want to be a better writer . . . how is the best way to ask for some feedback . . . I have some links I could post, but I don't want to look like I'm trying to pedal my work?

Any thoughts? . . . would love some honest feedback (strength and weakness kind of stuff) . . . how best to ask?

That's simple enough. Post a chapter or so (maybe 500 to 3,000 words) in the genre-appropriate SYW forum.

If you want feedback on a larger work, as a whole novel or script manuscript, there's a place somewhere around here that you can find a beta reader or two.

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:
If you need some feedback on your writing, you can post some in our Share Your Work forum (the password is vista). The critiques can be harsh sometimes ... but honest, so prepare yourself for that. Everyone means well, though. Their goal is to get you the best novel/story/article possible and to get it published. You could also critique some of the other members' work too. It is surprising how that can help with you own. Check out the how-to guide threads in Main Share Your Work sub-forum, then post your material in one of the genre sub-forums.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, which is in a sticky thread at the top of the Newbie Forum. Also check out Cathy_C's thread, which is also stickied at the top of the Newbie forum, Next on our tour, if you'll look to the left, you'll notice... to find out about the various buttons and icons, and also about rep points, how to PM (private message) members, custom avatars and a whole host of other useful stuff,
