hello everyone!
I'm new to the water cooler--just finished my first novel (it took yeaaaars) and sent out my first round of queries. I've gotten a few full ms requests, and I found AW while obsessively googling: "how long does it take agents to respond?!"

(my big question is how long can it take to get a yes? I know it can take months and years for a no--but all the stories I hear of people getting agented seem to involve the agent responding in days or just a couple weeks to a submission...)

as you can see, I'm totally new to this side of it with all the accompanying anxiety and bewilderment--and glad to be among people who have been through it or are going through it as well. :)

gah!

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. Good luck.

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

It can take a while for an agent to get back to you. How long? Well, it depends on the agent and how much they have on their plate. Could be days, weeks or even months.

Take a quick trip down to the 'Ask the Agent' forum and read through some of the threads there. We even have two guest agent threads (Jennifer Laughran and Nathan Bransford) which are stickied at the top of that forum. Any questions you have about the process will probably have been asked and answered in them.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, which is in a sticky thread at the top of the Newbie Forum. Also check out Cathy_C's thread, which is also stickied at the top of the Newbie forum, Next on our tour, if you'll look to the left, you'll notice... to find out about the various buttons and icons, and also about rep points, how to PM (private message) members, custom avatars and a whole host of other useful stuff,

If you have any problems you can PM (private message) me and I'll see if I can help, or you can post in the Super-Dooper Newbie 'Ask the Mod' thread at the top of the newbie forum.

And for fun, we have the terrific Newbie Question of the Day thread. Pop in and have a go at answering a few of the really easy questions (the link is in the sig line below). They are easy. Yep, they are. And so much fun.

Oh, and do you like double choc-chip cookies? :D

oh, thanks for making me feel so welcome, guys! I already have a new project in the works, and you're right--it definitely makes me feel more sane. ;)
