Agorism FTW!
I dunno. Buying a brand that automatically swerves into every gas station it passes in this day and age? I don't see that as a good capitalist move. :)

Although maybe they're going to sell exclusively to their military?

ETA: But this part makes your point pretty well.
In a twist that reflects changes in the U.S. and Chinese economies, the deal transfers the Hummer brand from an American company owned by the U.S. government to a Chinese company that is private.

I'm thinking "damn commies" isn't a great way to start a thread. I'm changing it to communists.

Ah, somewhere on this planet commerce remains unimpeded by government intervention and silly green initiatives. They'll probably stick the logo on some piece of plastic junk that they manufacture in a coal fired plant... but hey, what do we care? After all, we got $150MM and by god, that's something!

A Hummer? Used in the military? Next you'll tell me they have 30-minute commercials on TV starring Chuck Norris hawking exercise machines.

The Chinese aren't really communists anymore. They are authoritarian as hell, but have wholly embraced big-time capitalism on a global scale. And are doing fairly well at it.

GM's Hummer: between a rock and a hard place. . . .

But look who's saved the day:

Yup. Their "special economic zones" have sort of overflowed.

No no no. You've got it all wrong. Capitalism is synonymous with freedom.

That version hasn't been around in a while. The one they're getting is the Suburban with the new plastic shell that looks like a hummer.

That means we have suckered them into destroying themselves.

Tonight I'm going to be having nightmares about Chinese streets crowded with Hummers. Just what every motorcycle cab passenger wants to be surrounded by on a road without discernable lanes.

Manchurians are going to hate this. They are tall people. Hummers are only fit for people five-feet-six or shorter. I've never sat in a vehicle with less headroom.

Give the Chinese government credit. They've managed to embrace capitalism while keeping all of the tyranny and oppression that comes along with communism. They've really gotten the best of both worlds (from their point of view).
