According to the latest Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators newsletter, Barry Goldblatt is no longer accepting unsolicted subs OR queries. He's a very busy guy with a full client list. For what it's worth, he's a well respected agent.

Don't know about the other, sorry.

When there are no recommendations listed beside a description, it means that P&E hasn't received any significant complaints for a negative recommendation and hasn't enough information yet to render a positive one. In other words, P&E considers it a neutral listing and that the business is acceptable.

In all instances, P&E believes writers should always be cautious.

Lois de la Haba is also busy, I think she works by referrals only.

It's probably a bit late for this, but Barry Goldblatt is a highly respected agent, specializing in YA and kids' books. Just a glance at his website will tell you that his clients include three NYT bestsellers, a Newberry award winner, a Printz award winner, and a MacArthur Genius Grant recipient. Definitely not a scammer.

[Agency] Barry Goldblatt Literary

Yup, big-name in YA. Bestselling authors (Holly Black, Libba Bray, and Lauren Myracle that I recognize), award-winning authors, the whole bit. Pretty much top-of-the-list.

Website: BG Literary
Blog (no recent updates): bgliterary

Anyone have experience with him? Turnaround time?

I queried him on New Years Eve and got a very standard "Dear Writer" form rejection two weeks later. He responds fast and is obviously a well known agent. You should certainly try sending him a query. Good luck!

Thanks xiaotien! Checked it out, seems he requests very few fulls (no partials from what I can see). He has no apparent taste, just "whatever he falls in love with". Well that narrows it down ;)

Thanks the both of you, as well :)

I'd like to add a few links, just for people's info.

^ Yup, he is! The reason I'm looking to query him with a finish mss is because of Libba actually. I've been told that the content in my stories is similar to Libba's, and hey, if that's up his alley...!

From what I gather, he does 2-6 weeks turnaround time. And the full requests are form and both those and reject forms are "tiny". So be careful and check if he really rejected you! :)

I'm not repped by Barry, but I do know him a little, and some of his clients. If this is any help, he works INCREDIBLY hard for his clients, and, as you've already pointed out, has a very impressive sales record.
If he handled more than kidlit, I'd be querying him.

^ Yep, and he always does personals on full rejections. He's on the top of my list. From the interviews I read with him, he sounds amazing.
