Oh, my, where to start? I miss so much, from the serious to the silly, when I stay away from here too long.
Sassy, I hope you're feeling better soon—honest! But please allow me to introduce a little (very little) levity: I know how you feel; I once lost the use of my entire left side. I'm all right now. Badum bump.
Maryn, that’s a great avatar! Looks like the latest in convenient stackable chairs from IKEA—designed by Microsoft engineers.
Also, I relate all too well to Mr. Maryn’s crystal mishap. Pandora and I both lean toward klutziness—two Aries that move just a bit too fast for safety. When she returns and we set up housekeeping, we’ll be wise to consider carefully our stemware selection. I’m thinking paper or plastic from Goodwill.
Oh, and I’ll be right there, snow shovel over my shoulder…well, maybe.
UPDATE—News from Thailand: Now completely recovered from the evil scrub typhus, it looks like Pandora’s luck took a turn for the better. Friday, she entered a drawing at her go-to mall, Seacon Square in Bangkok, and won a brand new iPod Touch! That’s a win-win for both of us because I inherit her old iPod Nano.
Speaking of geeky, techy things, I finally made the change from Windows XP to Windows 7. It took hours and hours to complete the clean install, re-install my favorite apps and get everything set up and running the way I like it. There were no major glitches in the process except for Hewlett-Packard techs telling me there were no drivers available to make my old HP printer run on 7. “WTF?” I snarled. Being told I can’t do something never sits well with me, rebel that I am. It took me 30 minutes after that call to prove them wrong. Now, when I think HP, I think, “LIARS!” Do you suppose they were just trying to sell me a new printer‽
* Na, I just can’t
fathom a major corporation would stoop so low. Yeah, hear the snarkasm. (It’s my word and I’ll use it if I want…I’m in that kind of a mood.)
Anyway, my new operating system is screaming fast and runs as smooth as a polished snake—I love it—so I’m in geek heaven. And I'm
sure it'll make my writing mo better.
*That cool little bit of punctuation (‽) is an “interrobang.” Quite handy for those times when a question just screams for added umph.
